Safety and Liability: Coosa Outdoor Center makes every effort to run a safe, fun trip. It is the responsibility of the paddler to wear a personal floatation device (PFD) and footwear that will stay on during a swim and will provide good traction on wet surfaces. It is also the  responsibility of the paddler to paddle safely.

Paddlers should evaluate their level of fitness. One who is significantly overweight or in poor physical condition should seek medical advice prior to paddling.

Whitewater includes elements of risk. Coosa Outdoor Center does not assume liability for personal injuries, death or damage of rented equipment. Renters must sign a waiver and release form prior to renting paddling gear.  The consumption of alcoholic beverages is not recommended while paddling.

Renters are responsible for the care and return of their equipment. Damages to the Coosa Outdoor Center equipment, above normal wear and tear, will be charged to renter. If you turn over while paddling, hold on to your paddle while getting back to your boat. Protect your equipment from fluctuating river levels when you pull your boat out of the water at Moccasin Gap or other islands to swim or picnic.

At the Coosa Outdoor Center takeout, protect your rental equipment from fluctuating river levels by putting your boat on the concrete patio at the top of the steps and placing your paddle in the boat and returning your personal floatation device (PFD) and helmet to the Coosa Outdoor Center equipment barn.
