Double Sit-on-Tops Double sit-on-tops are self-bailing, unlike canoes. They are easier to upright after capsizing and are easier to get back on than a canoe. All sit-on-tops are equipped with thigh straps. They are less resistant to wind and are not as likely to turn over as a canoe. After capsizing one can just climb back on. Thigh straps are provided on Coosa Outdoor Center sit-on-tops and soft back straps are provided upon request. |

Canoes |

Canoes are more difficult to right after capsizing than double sit-on-tops. One must get the canoe to the bank to get back in or have someone close by capable of assisting with a self-rescue and holding the boat stable while the canoeist climbs back in the boat. Unlike self-bailing sit-on-tops, excess water must be dipped out of canoes after rapids when excessive water gets in the canoe and makes the it more difficult to control and more likely to capsize in another rapid. Canoes are able to accommodate combined weights of approximately 600 pounds. |
